Lacrosse Background
Briggs embraced a new challenge by taking up lacrosse and immediately earning a spot on the varsity team as a defensive midfielder despite being new to the sport. His willingness to step outside his comfort zone and compete at a high level reflects the same determination, coachability, and work ethic that have defined his athletic development. Rather than focusing solely on personal success, Briggs approaches every sport with a team-first mindset, committing himself to learning, improving, and contributing wherever he is needed. His experience in lacrosse demonstrates his versatility as an athlete, his ability to adapt quickly to new environments, and his belief that success comes from consistent effort, preparation, and supporting teammates. Whether on the ice or on the lacrosse field, Briggs takes pride in competing hard, embracing challenges, and helping his team achieve its goals.
Coach Insights
As a first-time player Briggs often lacked confidence in his decision-making and belief in his own skill set on the field. Despite this, he showed the athleticism needed to develop into a reliable role player with continued experience and repetition. As a newcomer to the sport, he naturally struggled at times with the technical skills required, which is expected at this stage of development. His background in hockey provided useful crossover in both physicality and tactical awareness, which he was able to draw on as he learned the game.
