Hockey Background
From the moment Briggs laced up his skates at age two and a half in Learn to Skate and then the Learn to Play Hockey programs in Rochester, Michigan, he displayed a natural curiosity and drive for the sport. His first steps into travel hockey began with the Rochester Hockey Club, as a mite, where he played both forward and defense, embracing every opportunity to grow his knowledge of the game. After his family moved to Florida in 2020, Briggs continued his ascent, playing for the Florida Alliance AAA program, excelling in both forward and defense. Each step was a testament to his versatility, as he balanced roles, sharpened his skills, and never wavered in his commitment. Now, at Eaglebrook, Briggs stands out on the varsity team as a forward, driven by a love of the game, a tireless work ethic, and a readiness to embrace every new challenge that lies ahead.
Coach Insights
It was a pleasure to have Briggs on the Varsity hockey team this winter. While the season may not have ended the way he hoped, he should be proud of the effort he gave each and every day. Over the course of the season, he showed significant development as a player, thanks to his strong work ethic and coachability, consistently seeking out and embracing feedback. Briggs has a natural goal-scoring touch and frequently positioned himself in the right areas to help get the team on the board. He was an important part of our power play unit throughout the season and found a great deal of success in that role. Briggs always put the team first, consistently encouraging those around him and pushing others to improve. All of the coaches are grateful for the opportunity to work with him this winter. We hope he enjoys the offseason and look forward to his continued leadership next year.

I had the pleasure of coaching Briggs for 4 years now. Whether it’s during a private lesson, a clinic or while attending our academy, Briggs has always demonstrated his love for the game of hockey by his work ethic, determination and exemplary attitude. It is to no surprise that Briggs has always played at the highest level of his
birth year.
Briggs has predominantly played as a defenseman but has also helped the team playing as a forward when needed. Briggs always takes great pride in playing his dominant position. He plays a very responsible defensive game. His quickness and aggressiveness are his best attributes. His game awareness and hockey IQ is also better than average. Even though he mostly uses outlet passes to get out of his zone, he also uses his speed and determination
to move to play up the ice if needed. In the offensive zone, he rarely gets caught cheating and understands very well when to press versus when to sit back. He makes good decisions with the puck and is able to find shooting lanes and put pucks on net.
As a forward, he is very effective on the forecheck due to his speed and hunger to be first on pucks. He is very unselfish and will move the puck to open teammates. He will hang around the house and will engage in net front battles. He can play center as well as on the wing. He understands the differences in each positions’ role.
As a person and teammate, he is one of those low maintenance people. He is well liked by his peers. He is a kid who likes to have fun but also knows when to take things seriously. He cares very much about the team's success before his own. He will work hard on and off the ice with no hesitation. He could easily have a captain's letter on his jersey.
Briggs has been enrolled in online schooling over the last few years. Due to his rigid hockey season, he had no other choice to proceed with this type of education. His maturity and dedication has helped him excel with online school. His current grades are all ‘Bs’ and ‘As’. I’m in no way concerned with Briggs returning to a regular class setting knowing his mentality and character when it comes down to academic and athletic success.
Over the years I got to know Briggs, I have seen tremendous growth with the person he is and with his game. I have no doubt his progression will continue to improve and if your Prep School can get Briggs to enroll, it would definitely acquire a wonderful player as well as a wonderful young man.

Briggs possesses excellent size and is a very smooth skater. Not only can he effectively skate north-south, but he is also agile laterally, showcasing his ability to play an effective offensive defenseman at times. He remains calm and smart with the puck under pressure, and he demonstrates great vision on the ice, consistently finding open outlets both offensively and defensively.
During our skill development sessions, Briggs is consistently engaged and attentive to the details that make a difference in the long run. He is always eager to learn and never hesitates to ask insightful questions. I truly believe that with the right guidance and environment, Briggs can achieve great success.
Off the ice, he is a professional beyond his years, showing respect for his teammates and displaying leadership qualities that set him apart. He has my highest recommendation.
