Get to Know Briggs

Briggs Olin was born on May 2, 2011, in metropolitan Detroit. He spent his early elementary years attending a bilingual (Spanish/English) Montessori School where he built a foundation in both languages.

In 2020, he and his family relocated to Estero, Florida, where he continued to grow—not only as a student-athlete, but as a young man shaped by discipline, curiosity, and a global worldview. Briggs is the oldest of three brothers, proudly leading Carter (born in 2012) and Beckett (born in 2014) by example.

Briggs comes from a family deeply rooted in academic excellence and competitive athletics. His mother, Kelly, is a former student-athlete and nationally ranked swimmer who holds both an undergraduate and master’s degree from Michigan State University in Supply Chain Management and Labor & Industrial Relations. His father, Marc, a former AAA hockey player who also competed in high-level baseball and golf, earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Michigan State as well—specializing in Supply Chain Management and Leadership & Strategy. Growing up in this environment, Briggs learned early what determination, discipline, and integrity look like in action.

A Global Childhood

Travel has played a defining role in Briggs’s upbringing. At age nine, he spent two weeks in Thailand, which included a multi-day backpacking trip and an overnight stay in a remote mountain village—an experience that sparked his appreciation for culture, perspective, and resilience.

At age 12, Briggs lived with a French Canadian host family in Québec while participating in the prestigious Pee-Wee Québec International Hockey Tournament. Immersed in a new language, new customs, and a new style of daily life, he gained valuable insight into a different culture and assimilated beautifully. The experience strengthened both his independence and his understanding of what it means to represent himself and his team with maturity and respect.

His travels have continued throughout Europe and North Africa, including visits to Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, England, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Croatia, and Italy. In the summer of 2025, Briggs spent two weeks exploring major World War II historical sites across Europe, including Normandy and Auschwitz—an experience that deepened his appreciation for history, leadership, and global citizenship.

A Brave Step Toward Independence

At just 14 years old, by his own determination and choice, Briggs made the courageous decision to leave home and attend Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Massachusetts as a fifth-form (eighth grade) student. This leap into independence revealed a maturity far beyond his years—and Briggs has only flourished since.

Before arriving, he was scouted for the varsity hockey team, where coaches quickly recognized his skill, work ethic, and potential. His abilities extended beyond the rink as well: Briggs earned one of only a select few spots available to eighth graders on the varsity soccer team, a rare distinction that reflected both his athletic versatility and leadership qualities.

Character Above Everything

Despite his accomplishments, Briggs remains a gentle, kind, and well-mannered young man with a fierce sense of integrity. He connects naturally with people of all ages and backgrounds and is especially patient, warm, and compassionate with children and the elderly.

Briggs approaches every part of his life—academics, athletics, friendships, and global experiences—with humility, grit, and a genuine desire to grow. His story is still unfolding, but it is already defined by independence, curiosity, courage, and a rare emotional intelligence well beyond his years.
